Hello! Welcome to a collection of articles about collective intelligence in journalism. You can find articles about crowdsourcing, co-creation, and crowdfunding in journalism.
I am Dr. Tanja Aitamurto, and my lifework is about figuring out how we can engage the crowd in a meaningful way in crowdsourced journalism and democracy. In my research projects I examine several aspects of crowdsourcing and collective intelligence: the crowd’s motivation factors to contribute to journalism, the impact of crowdsourcing on traditional journalistic norms and practices, and on the norms and practices in traditional policymaking.
I work at Stanford University, where I serve as Deputy Director of the Brown Institute for Media Innovation. I am originally from a small village by the Arctic Circle in Finland, a small and mighty country in Northern Europe. You can find more about my work at www.tanjaaitamurto.com
